Oxen Make a Big Hit at Children's Event
Children of all ages enjoed petting Walker, left, and Hershcel, right, two young oxen owned by Tiller's International. The event was sponsored by the Historical Association of South Haven and the South Haven Center for the Arts. The kids said the pair were sweet, mellow and soft to the touch. The young oxen weigh nearly 800 pounds each and will eventually weigh in at 2000 pounds. HASH put on the event to demonstrate how draft animals were used for farming by the early settlers of South Haven.
