Impending Doom

Dyckman Park

The City has approved a plan to remove 5 evergreens, the berms, bushes, plus the 15 feet of park space they occupy in order to add just a few parking spaces and make the parking lot more visible from Phoenix Street.

Unless we act now, we will lose the present beauty of the park.

The trees are gone as of today(August 16). Despite the petition drive (over 300 signatures), despite pleas and logic, the city council in their arrogance has destroyed the park. They need to be recalled. They are self-serving and no longer listen to their constituents.I think they, throught the office of the city manager, gave the go-ahead to the contractor to do the dastardly deed early on Monday morning, so the issue would be moot at this evening's council meeting.

i saw four seasons taking down the trees on my way to work this morning (around 9:30am). they seemed to be moving as quickly as they could. perhaps they didn't want to be confronted?
